She was 25; he was 70.This was his second marriage. 1928 Feb.: described in John Lloyd's birth certificate as a " retired pawnbroker" living at " Ye Olde Forge, Lancing" where John Lloyd spend his early years (see his memoirs)Old address book: also has "W. McCarthy, Ye Olde Tithe Barn, North Lancing, Sussex" 1932: There was a patent granted:Patent EC:A47K11/03B titled ‘Improvements in Sanitary Closets’ - applicants: William Norman McCarthy, Iris Mary McCarthy 14/9/1932, 18 Strutton Ground (!); Publication info: GB389744A-1933-03-23.- this is for "improvements" to the sanitary closets which John Lloyd McCarthy's childhood memoirs has as an invention of their father William Henry Lloyd McCarthy (this patent is dated 1932). John Lloyd McCarthy's Childhood Memoirs indicate William Henry Lloyd McCarthy was an inventor.YES - THIS ONE I FOUND TOO AND IS AMUSING - ALSO MENTIONED IN MY DAD'S MEMOIRS1938: Arthur Vernon Mullings bought control of the pawnbroker business/jewellery from his cousin (William Henry Lloyd); so this would have been the year after his death when probably his 2nd wife Iris was in need of money (and perhaps also Eric and William Norman, sons from 1st marriage .Note: Need to gte copy of William Justin lloyd's will to find out who he gave the pawnbroker business too.
