1795 born - based on fact that was 76 in 1871 census.1824: living at 59 Marsham St,. Westminister. Broker and aunctioneer.1871 describes him as assitant bailiff southwark county court. States born in Westminsterstephen's notes:John Whitroe who in 1824 was living at 59 Marsham St Westminster broker and auctioneer. It was probably his son John who went bust in 1847.note: The Reeves family (which get mentioned in Mary Ann Helena McCarthy 1868-1877 dairies) are interesting - Charles Reeves married Ann Elizabeth WHITROE in Westminster in 1849. So clearly the McCarthies, LLoyds, Whitroes, Reeves look all interlinked with the pawnbroker business (at 18 Strutton Ground).Other Whitroe info found:--------------------------------National Archives MS 11936/509/1037759 11 November 1825Contents: Insured: George Whitroe, 25 Great Peter Street, WestminsterOther property or occupiers: 39, Strutton Grounds, Westminster (chandler)
